UPB’s Master’s degree programmes are structured in accordance with the Bologna Process (Article 20 of Decree-Law no. 74/2006 of March 24, in its current wording), comprising:
-
- A specialization course, made up of an organized set of curricular units, called a master’s course, to which a minimum of 50% of the total credits of the study cycle correspond;
-
- A dissertation of a scientific nature or a project work, original and specially carried out for this purpose, or an internship of a professional nature which is the subject of a final report, depending on the specific objectives pursued, under the terms established by the respective regulations, corresponding to a minimum of 30 credits.
An exception to the above may be Master’s degree courses that confer a professional qualification for teaching (teacher training area), which are governed by Article 16 of Decree-Law 43/2007 of February 22.
The dissertation or project work or professional internship which is the subject of a final report must ensure that the student acquires a specialization of a predominantly professional nature and is the result of an activity carried out in an environment of experimental work and practical application of the knowledge acquired in the curricular units of the master’s study cycle. It should involve components of a theoretical, laboratory or field nature, promoting the approach to new situations of current practical interest, the collection of information and bibliography, the justified selection of approach methodologies, the design of a solution to the proposed problem, its implementation and the critical analysis of the results.
