Postgraduate_TI

Postgraduate is the name given to a course taken after a first ‘degree’, usually a Bachelor’s degree, taught in a higher education establishment, within the scope of its training vocation and educational project, but in any case not conferring any degree. The term “postgraduate” and “postgraduate training” (and others that suggest higher education training is involved) is reserved for higher education institutions, and corresponds, for example, to a specialisation course that forms part of the Master’s study cycle, but which is not enough to acquire the degree, although the concept of ‘’postgraduate‘’ is broader, covering examples other than this. Postgraduate courses do not confer any academic degree. Postgraduate specialisation courses in Nursing aim to ensure the acquisition of scientific, technical, human and cultural competence in a specific area of nursing. Complementary higher education courses in English are one of the ways of acquiring a professional teaching qualification in group 120 – teaching English in the 3rd and 4th years of school.

Doctorate_TI

The cycle of studies leading to a doctorate does not have a set duration or number of ECTS. Most commonly, it lasts 6 to 8 semesters and 180 to 240 ECTS credits. Its structure consists of:
    • the preparation of an original thesis especially for this purpose, appropriate to the nature of the branch of knowledge or specialty, or the compilation of a coherent and relevant body of research work, or, in the field of the arts, a work or set of works or achievements, accompanied by written supporting evidence;
    • the possible completion of curricular units aimed at training for research (if the respective regulations so provide), the whole of which is called a Doctorate course.
The doctorate degree is awarded to those who have passed the public defense of their thesis. The doctorate degree corresponds to level 8 of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).

Master's Degree_TI

Master’s degrees normally last 3 to 4 semesters, according to their total number of ECTS credits: 3 semesters/90 ECTS and 4 semesters/120 ECTS. Its structure comprises an organized set of curricular units (specialization course), corresponding to a minimum of 50% of the total credits of the study cycle, and a dissertation of a scientific nature or project work or internship of a professional nature, corresponding to a minimum of 30 ECTS credits.

Bachelor's Degree_TI

Bachelor’s degrees are higher education degree courses with 180 ECTS credits and a normal duration of 6 semesters, or, exceptionally, up to 240 ECTS credits and 7 or 8 semesters. The degree of graduate is awarded to those who, by passing all the curricular units that make up the study plan of the degree course, have obtained the set number of credits. The degree of graduate corresponds to level 6 of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).

CTeSP_TI

The Higher Professional Technical Courses (CTeSP) are non-degree higher education courses with 120 ECTS credits and a duration of two years. Successful conclusion leads to the award of the technical specialization professional diploma, which corresponds to level 5 of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and ISCED 2011 (International Standard Classification of Education).

Its structure includes general and scientific training courses, technical training courses and work-based training.

The work-based training component takes the form of an internship which can be spread over the course.

Holders of a technical specialization professional diploma can access and enter the Bachelor’s degree study cycles.
