The UPB provides consultancy and development support services to various stakeholders in the regional, national and international socio-economic sector. The provision of services/consultancy accounts for a significant amount, of which around a third are innovation contracts with companies. The UPB develops its mission in conjunction with society, including cross-border cooperation, from a perspective of territorial cohesion and national and international consolidation, with a view to the development of the Region, based on innovation and the production and transfer of scientific and technological knowledge, in accordance with its Statutes. The UPB participates, on its own or through its organic units and R&D units, in activities that connect with society, namely the dissemination and transfer of knowledge, as well as the valorisation of scientific knowledge. Therefore, UPB’s purposes are to promote regional development through multiple forms of openness to the community, from the transfer of knowledge to participation in programmes and projects and the provision of services. This is an institution with strong ties to the region, a driving force behind the creation of a culture that fosters entrepreneurship, technology transfer and the co-creation of technological innovation, with the potential for internationalisation. According to the accounts reports, the enormous effort and commitment to promoting the growth of funding from innovation contracts with companies is visible. Consultancy and the provision of research and innovation services contracted with companies continue to grow, already surpassing €1,650K (value in 2023), a third of which corresponds to innovation contracts with companies.
