Which countries and HEIs are eligible for mobility?

A period of mobility requires the existence of a bilateral agreement between the two institutions and the definition of an individual study contract for each student on mobility. See the list of partner HEIs for international mobility and get further guidance from your school’s Erasmus Coordinator.

How to submit an application to the International Mobility Programme and what are the deadlines?

Applications for international mobility are made online, on the International Mobility Applications Portal, which will be made available by the deadlines set annually by the GRI.

What language support is available for international mobility?

The GRI and the UPB Language Centre (www.ese.ipb.pt/clinguas) organize English and Spanish courses specially designed for UPB students wishing to undertake Erasmus or international mobility. Students who successfully complete the course will be awarded a diploma proving their level of competence in accordance with the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Obtaining this diploma is a priority when it comes to being awarded a mobility grant. Students who have successfully completed an English or Spanish course at the UPB Language Center will be refunded the full cost of the course if they move to a language-using country during the following academic year.

What is the situation of students on social welfare grants when they are selected for a grant under the UPB International Mobility Programme?

Students on international mobility maintain their scholarship status, as defined by UPB’s Social Welfare Services.

What are the rules for assigning the Programme's mobility grants?

The assignment of a mobility grant is the responsibility of each school’s Erasmus Coordinator, taking into account the candidates’ curricula, namely the number and classification of credits accumulated and basic knowledge of the language in which the courses they will be attending at the host HEI are taught (UPB’s Language Centre, in collaboration with the International Relations Office (GRI), offers English and Spanish courses specially designed for students wishing to undertake Erasmus and International mobility). If deemed appropriate, the selection of candidates may include an interview. The selection rules are identical to those used in the Erasmus Programme and follow the UPB LLP-Erasmus Student Mobility Programme Regulations.

What financial support does the International Mobility Programme provide?

As part of the collaboration protocols, UPB and the partner HEIs provide mobility flows and grants for studies and internships, in accordance with their own funding. These streams and grants can also be used to carry out Master’s dissertations and Doctoral theses under a co-supervision regime. The scholarships consist of guaranteed accommodation and meals (on days when the academic restaurant is open) by the host HEI (or, in some cases, equivalent financial support). Travel costs are the responsibility of each student.

Who can participate in the International Mobility Programme?

UPB students who:
    • Regardless of their nationality, they must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (in the 2nd year or later) or Master’s degree course at UPB in the academic year in which they are going on mobility;
    • Have their tuition fee situation regularized.
Each UPB student can undertake a single period of international mobility, regardless of whether they have undertaken periods of mobility under the Erasmus Programme.

What types of student mobility does the International Mobility Programme offer?

Student mobility is available for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree courses and for attending curricular units, carrying out curricular and professional internships and carrying out co-supervised research work, including Master’s dissertations and Doctorate theses.
